Blerghhhh
Man I had a long day. I feel freaking exhausted. We made chemicals today, and one of the drums sprang a leak.
But with my mad ninja skills, you'll be pleased to note that I was able to dodge all flying chemicals.
Not that they were particularly dangerous or anything.
They just turn your skin a bright purple.
And who wants to look like an angry smurf?

SYTYCD: Cool Dancers
So I finally got around to watching Thursday's Season Premiere. I love this show!!
This guy is crazy. It's like he's made from Silly Putty.
Phillip Chbeeb
Victor Kim:
Know why I like this show better than Idol?
The judges are brutal. Watch them during this audition. Soooo mean. "Cue the sad music as he walks off the stage please."
What can I say? I love the breakers.
Oh... MY... GOSH!!!
OH MY GOSH!! That guys is freaky awesome!

Tuesday!
Did everyone have a good Memorial Day? I had a very nice time with my family, and I made it home, despite the best efforts of I-95.
I have a sunburn, bug bites, and a small dent in my car. Summer has officially started.
I know I skipped the Monday AMV, but I have something even better.
24 the musical.
It's freaking awesome. Based on Season Two, which was pretty bad, and there's some language, although I thought "Dammit" was pretty funny.
I'm finally getting around to seeing the premiere for So You Think You Can Dance, and Mia Micheals kills me. I'll look for highlights to post.

Friday Funny
This weekend I'll be going down to my brother's in North Carolina. As I prepare for the Super Special Awesomeness that will be I-95S on Memorial Day weekend, I thought to long, hours and hours of car trips with my family, and remembered this awesome tape my sister had of Monty Python skits.
This one was my favorite on the tape, and I had it memorized. Enjoy!

Just FYI
You know what's not good to eat before an intense workout?
Quesadillas.
I kind of already knew this, but for some reason I thought that if I ate an hour before hand I would be okay.
Like swimming!
I was wrong.
Also, Angel totally saw me jump the curb when I backed out of my parking spot. He was laughing. And then I was laughing. At me.
On an upnote, I netflixed the Imax movie "Alaska" and it's freaking awesome. Even on my little screen.

Corbeau's Embassy Row Adventure
Saturday, I went into DC with two friends that I haven't blogged about yet, so I will call them Yoosh and B. We went into DC for the annual Embassy Row Open House.
It was a beautiful day, perfect for walking around the city. We started with Columbia, which had a tour of the ambassador's house, which was beautiful. In the garden they had some sort of jellied fruit on cheese. It was gross.
To be perfectly honest, I hate jellied fruit, so it didn't have much of a chance. The volunteers were passing out various tourist swag, with Colombia's new tourist theme.
Columbia: The only risk is not wanting to leave.
I found this to be freaking hilarious.
After that we went to India, which was my personal favorite. They had their best bollywood dj rocking the house, we were treated to a excellent choreographed dance show, and then given an entire plate of amazing, and free, Indian food.
We also went to Ethiopia, Bangladesh, Nigeria, and Pakistan, but none of them were as cool as India. Ethiopia had a speaker, Nigeria was prepping for something, but we'll never know if the event ever occurred, since we gave up after checking back a couple of times. We were going to eat at Ghana, but they had this massive non-moving line. Bangladesh had kids performing folk dances, which was adorable. Pakistan had a small bazaar, and were blasting euro-pop at ear-peircing levels.
I'm not sure why. Perhaps to let everyone know that they were the cool embassy. Pakistan also had food. The only thing we recognized were samosas, which we had also eaten at the Indian embassy. So I decided to pick something at random from the menu. "Can I get the Julab Gotti?" I asked the man.
"What?"
"Uh, number 6?"
"What is the Number 6?"
"Er...Julab...Gotti?"
At that point, the guy started laughing, took my money, and plopped two enormous balls of fried bread that had spent the last five hours soaking in honey down on my plate.
After that, both of my friends ordered samosas.
After the embassies we headed down to the Asia festival in downtown DC. They had a martial arts arena, and we watched some Tai Kwan Do guys kick the crap out of some wooden planks. They were awesome. This one guy threw an apple in the air, kicked it, and it exploded all over the audience that wasn't me.
I cheered. As did everyone else who wasn't covered in apple sauce.
We also went down to the cultural stage, and watched some belly dancers.
Have you ever seen a cultural festival without belly dancers? I haven't. I'm convinced that I could throw a dance/culutral/garage sale festival in my back yard and belly dancers would show up.
There were also Mongolian dancers, and the Indonesian embassy sent a group of muscians. While we were watching the dancers, we noticed that all the people around us were eating bowls of what appeared to be jello floating in milk. We finally worked up our courage to ask what it was, and that's how we found ourselves in front of the Thai shaved ice stand.
Neither of my friends would get some, but they did advise me as to toppings, since both of them have actually lived in China, and knew that some of them were nasty.
So there was a whole line of nice, elderly Asian people, standing behind bowls of various weird things. The first lady scooped some shaved ice in a bowl, and poured coconut milk over it. She handed it to the topping line.
"What you want?" the first guy asked,
"uh, what's good?"
"It's all good!" They all started shouting and pointing their ladles at their topping and telling me how good it was.
"Get the red bean paste" Yoosh told me.
The guy poured an enormous scoop of red bean paste on top of my ice. Then I also got Ai Yu jelly (which looks like yellow jello)
Grass jelly (which looks like black jello) and then had them top it off with a good squeeze of Hershey's chocolate syrup.
It was...strangely delicious. The grass jelly in particular was very refreshing, and the red bean paste was really yummy. Sweet, with a nice texture and a really great flavor.
In fact, it was all really good, but I have no idea about how to describe the flavors I tasted other than... strangely delicious.

The Screwtape Letters
Friday, BSA, DFL and I went into DC to see the Screwtape Letters, a play based on C.S. Lewis' brilliant book. We arrived at the Shakespeare Theater, and realized that we were a tad under-dressed. We usually go to the Folger Shakespearean Theater, which is a little more casual. But there were some people there in jeans, so we weren't too bad in our business casual.
We went into the lobby, and they had all these Christian audio books for sale, including Jonathan Edwards' platinum Puritan hit, "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God." This has been one of my favorite Hellfire and Damnations sermons since my friend Nanette's brilliant rendition in our Sophomore Honors English class.
We went in and took our seats, which were awesome. Second row. Dead center. The only down side was that whenever Screwtape enunciated you could see the clouds of spit glistening in the stage lights.
Everything on stage was crooked. The floor was crooked, the tables were crooked, and they had this great crooked ladder that went up to the little Hell mailbox. The back wall looked like it came straight from the Paris catacombs. All skulls and rocks.
Screwtape was really good. He basically monologued for an hour and 45 minutes. There was no intermission, and he was awesome the whole way through. The only other person on stage was his little assistant demon.
She was awesome. She walked crooked, and her personality was something between one of those little rat lap dogs, and a really evil monkey. She would jitter and shoot looks, and whenever Screwtape was talking about how he tempted someone, she would mimic the person.
Her little model walk/dance when he was discussing the standards of modern beauty was hilarious.
Basically, I loved it. If this play should happen to come your way, you should definitely check it out.

Did y'all have a good weekend?
Mine was awesome! And I have every intention of blogging about it. Unfortunately, I have to go beat people up/get beat up, so hopefully I'll have time later this evening.
Meanwhile, enjoy some Full Metal Panic.

A Story About Smells
Today, in Krav, we learned a new clinch where you keep your opponent's head pressed into your shoulder.
Students of anatomy will realize that, if you are playing the part of the attacker, this means that your face will be awfully close to what the French call "L'eau du Pitte"
So the astute Krav student *cough*ninja*cough* will position herself strategically among the more sweeter smelling.

Per Request--The Weirdest Mother's Day Ever
All right, here's the whole story. If I get slammed for murmuring I'm blaming all y'all. :)
When we got to church this morning the parking lot was almost empty. TSA (The Starving Artist) and I were trying to figure out where the other ward was when I remembered, “Oh, it’s Mothers Day. In my home ward we always got out after Sacrament on Mothers Day.” We got into the building, and were encompassed in a fascinating odor. The sewage pipes had backed up, and the only room not affected was the chapel. “Sweet!” I thought, “We’re definitely going home early.”
The first speaker got up, and told us how when the first counselor asked her to speak about Mothers and Mother’s Day, he also asked her not to forget about fathers.
Because focusing on Mothers on Mother’s Day is just crazy talk.
So her entire talk was about her father. The second speaker went gender neutral and talked about “goodly parents.”
When the service ended, they announced that the smell had been fixed so we would go ahead and have all our meetings.
You know, once I thought I was going home early, all I wanted to do was leave.
We went to Sunday school and it was freezing. Turns out the only way to get rid of the smell was to set the air to max. At one point it got so cold, they turned the air off and the smell came creeping back. The choice was between stink or cold, so they chose cold.
After all, many are cold but few are frozen.
HA HA HA HA!!!!!! Oh, I kill me.
The Relief Society lesson was all about the priesthood, with one of the Bishopric counselors there as a guest speaker. The lesson ended, late, with a call to honor the men and priesthood of our ward.
On Mother’s Day.
Since we were about 15 minutes over, we jumped straight to the closing prayer, and the RS Prez was like “Oh, and since’s it Mother’s Day, the elders are waiting outside to give you carnations. To honor you.”
Except that most of the Elders were tired of waiting for us, so they just came in passed out flowers at random and then left.

Good Food Monday--Page 6
Good Food Monday
I have the Monday Blahs. We’ve been having constant storming rain. Last night we had a horrible storm, and all the constant banging and what not kept me up all night, thinking about the news story I saw that was all about the storm ripping walls and roofs off houses.
I was especially concerned since I spent most of yesterday bad mouthing our church service. But honestly, who ever heard of a Mother’s Day service that was all about honoring men?
A couple of hours later I realized that I was just being silly, and that what I really should be worrying about was the tree trying to smash its way through my window.
When I finally fell asleep, I had a dream where I was fighting zombies. In my labcoat. With a scalpel of all things.
When I woke up, I was light headed and head-achey, and when I got to work, I had 8 hours of class where I had to calculate, calibrate, and convert. Oh goodness my brain is fried.
But enough WHINING!! On with the food…
We’ve missed a few weeks, but now we’re onto page 6, appetizers.
Cheddar Ranch Snack Mix
3 c Kellog’s Crispix cereal
3 c Cheez-its white cheddar crackers
1 c mini pretzels
1 pkt dry ranch dip mix
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp lemon & herb seasoning
1 tsp dill weed
¼ c vegetable oil
In a large bowl, combine Crispix cereal, Cheez-Itz crackers and pretzels. Set aside. IN a small mixing bowl, combine remaining ingredients, mixing well. Pour seasoning mixture over cracker mixture. Gently stir the mixture. Microwave on high 1 minute. Gently stire. Microwave on high for 1 more minute.
This one is easy and pretty tasty, although the seasoning is pretty strong. Tastes a lot like Chicken in a Biscuit.

NY Trip--Sunday
NY Trip –Sunday
A little late posting this, but BSA got free passes to see “Son of Rambow” which I thought was really cute. I liked it, but I’m also not a parent. I could see how people might not like it. But I thought it was fun to watch two boys make a crazy film. The end is a little abrupt, but everything was resolved so I didn’t mind.
Anyway, we were so tired that we didn’t wake up until the maid knocked to clean up. I got up to answer the door, and she apologized and left. I noticed there was a paper on the floor, and picked it up. It was our check out bill. Since we had prepaid for our hotel, it was blank.
“Hey BSA, we got our check out bill.”
“Anything on it?” she asked sleepily, still buried under a mound of covers.
“Uh, 1 bag of M&Ms”
“I KNEW IT!!!” She came flying out of bed and across the room. “I Knew IT!! I knew they’d put that sucker on our bill!”
By this time I was cracking up, so she figured out I was just kidding.
We checked our bags with the bell boys, checked out, and headed out to Central Park. Central Park is massive, so we only explored a small portion, but I did manage to find the view that shows up in every movie ever that features a scene in Central Park.

After we headed to Madame Taussaud’s, we expected to spend several hours there, but they didn’t have that many wax people. We made it through the whole building in 45.
And that included the break where BSA joined Simon Cowl in absolutely tearing apart some karaoke-singers.

Then we just wandered until it was time to catch the bus. We saw Carnegie Hall, The Soup Nazi store, Radio City Music Hall, the Hershey Store, and the M&M Store. It was a good day, but by the time we got back to the bus I thought my legs were gonna fall off.

NY Trip--Saturday
NY Trip—Saturday
On Saturday we went down to Times Square, walked around, went shopping, and saw Iron Man. (I liked it. It was fast paced, good dialogue, and the best robot comic relief since R2-D2.)

Then we went down to the WTC, but it was walled off for construction. So went to Battery Park. There were these guys dressed as the Statue of Liberty. One of them sassed me when I wouldn’t go pose for a picture, but by the time we got to the park I was out of small bills.

This was also a bummer when we found a posing Spiderman.

We came across this big crowd of people. We climbed onto a big bronze statue, and watched a guy flip over a man, his wife and their three children. Awesome.
As we wandered back we came up Wall St. and right into a Romanian street fair. Seriously! We got Strawberry and Chocolate crepes which were amazing.

That night we went to Wicked, which I loved.

Our seats were way up close. Close enough to see the individual wiry hairs on the monkeys heads. We were on the side, so I couldn’t see all of the backdrop, but I could see all the actors, so it was awesome.
Glinda (the Ga is silent) was my favorite. She had me laughing every time she came on stage, and during “Popular” I laughed so hard it hurt. I also got chills during some of the songs. I loved it. I loved the story, the dialogue, the songs. Loved it!

New York Trip Report--Friday
Friday—
We took a bus from Arlington and got into Manhattan around 1 in the afternoon. I suggest using the bathroom on the bus, because trying to find a toilet around Madison Square Gardens is a little scary.
We got to our hotel, and discovered a lovely gift basket, with candy, bottled water, nuts, all kinds of goodies. There was also a note, stating that there were sensors in the basket, and that if you picked up anything for longer than 20 seconds, it would be automatically added to your account. This caused some concern, since one of the packets of M&M’s was off its sensor.
“Just wait,” BSA warned, “That sucker’s going to show up on our bill.”
We made our way down to the Ninja restaurant. You get into this elevator, and when it opens, everything’s dark. A ninja with a sword jumps out and high-yas at you. Then he says “Welcome to Ninja. I will guide you to my village. Would you like to take the shortcut, or the secret ninja passageway?”
We voted for the passageway.
Our guide took off down the dark passageway. It was narrow and hard to see, and I was afraid that I would miss a turn or something and smash into a wall. I was also pretty sure that our guide would jump out at us. We got to one part of the tunnel that just looked creepy. I thought, “If I was our guide, this is where I would hide.” So I stopped. I was trying to psych myself up for walking into the trap, when our guide jumped out from behind us and grabbed BSA, who screamed like a little girl.

The restaurant is dark, but it's all set up like a ninja village.
The tables are all set up like little houses, with sliding doors. Cute eh?
All the servers are dressed up like ninjas, and the menus are on scrolls. We both ordered the five course tasting menu.
My first course was the clam bombshell. It came with Gruyere fondue, and the server pointed out that I had no clam on my plate. He showed me another, which had this enormous clam sitting on a pile of white crystals. There was a fuse trailing from the crystals. He lit on fire, did a whole ninja hand sign thingy, and then the crystals caught on fire with a bright flash, and as the flames burned the clam slowly opened, showing the tasty meats inside.
It was AWESOME.
I had a ninja crab ball that was disguised as a household plant, (very difficult to eat with chopsticks), we had sushi, and BSA got some pork dish with squid ink that made it look scary. All dark and slimy. Like something you would eat with fava beans and a nice Chianti. It tasted good though.
Our fourth course was steak, and then while we waited for dessert, Mike the magic guy came by and gave us a magic show. He was very entertaining. Then for dessert, I had a chocolate ball, and inside was strawberry mousse, cake and chocolate pudding. BSA got a chocolate mousse and strawberry dish that was served with a rose and dry ice.
It was very cool.

Fortunately, my ninja training allows me to remain calm under pressure, and also to agree to tip a generous 20%.
Actually, we asked our server if we could take her picture and she said "Wait a sec," and disappeared (how ninja-y!) We thought maybe she went to get one of the big ninja guys, but instead she came back with that short sword and stuck it right up to my neck.

The Closer
Brenda: I'd like to start with you, Ms. Powell. I'd like to say how sorry I am that I was unable to ignore your general level of incompetence in the wrongly obtained conviction in the case of Bill Croelick. And I'm sorry if you felt hurt and defensive about putting a man on death row for the wrong crime, and I certainly hope that that will never, ever happen again. Agent Jackson, I deeply regret that the FBI handed over two million dollars to a man on a terrorist watch list without the capacity to trace it, or managed to follow him for months without knowing his wife was having an affair with a doctor, and I hope you do much better in the future. Captain Taylor, I suppose I should apologize to you for not having been born in Los Angeles, but having seen you work up close now for several months, I can honestly say that try as I might, I can't think of any fair and reasonable system on earth where I wouldn't outrank you. There. I hope that clears everything up.
Our Birthday girl is enjoying the first season of The Closer. For those who have never seen this show it is awesome.

Finally!
Now that I can access Youtube, I can make my announcement.
Guess what I'm seeing this Saturday?
Yes yes, what better way to celebrate my entrance into decrepit spinsterhood then with a blowout in New York?
It's the only way to turn 30.

Curse you INTERNETS!!!
CURSE YOU!!!!!
Why is it the only thing that I can access are Google sites?
It's a conspiracy I tells ya.
Well, when I can access something besides blogger or the google search engine, I'll post an AMV.

Summer Puzzles
There's a storm front coming in, which means that today has been humid, and roasting hot. I was shopping in Target, and I thought I'd check out the toy section, because I think the Marvel SuperHero Squad toys are just about the cutest things ever.
Anyway, I passed the puzzle aisle.
When I was a kid, after school let out my Dad would buy some ginormous work of art that had been cut into thousands of teeny pieces, and we'd have it out all summer on a big ol' tray and everyone would just put pieces in whenever they felt like it.
That was fun. Even though we'd get to the end of the summer, and there was one piece missing, (every time!) I always thought it was neat.
So I went and bought a puzzle. It's going to take me flipping forever, because heaven knows I lack an artistic eye, but I thought it would be fun, and I just had a hankering for a puzzle.
I've emptied it out on the table, and as I go through the pieces, I realize that I should have really gotten a puzzle with less sky involved. I have about 500 blue pieces.

Man Crushes
Guess who got to spar with Angel tonight?
Guess who then almost whacked him hard in the groin on accident?
Fortunately, I missed, and than I cracked a joke that had him laughing, so bonus points for me!
Guess who else is in my class?
A lead singer of a rock band, with a bad boy goatee and a convertible porshe.
Yes, DFL's dream guy is also in my Krav class.

It's all DFL's FAULT!!
Since it’s getting warm out, and since my Krav class has yet to turn on the a/c, I thought I’d better bust my workout capris from storage.
They were a little clingier than I remembered, but I figured, “Hey, there’s a hot guy in class. Clingy could work for me.” The capris even match my knee brace, which sticks out a good 5 inches.
I still have to wear a massive brace. But I digress.
As our warm up got going, I noticed that the sweatier I got, the clingier my pants became. Which is how, somewhere in the middle of 30 push-ups, I suddenly wondered if I had a visible panty line.
This was a new sensation for me. It was very disturbing, especially since you’d think I’d be worrying more about push-ups or something. I mean, I was sweating heavily and bits of my hair were curling out my pony tail in their best Medusa impression, so I don’t see why a minor fashion infraction should suddenly be so upsetting. But it was. And now I have to buy new pants.
It’s all DFL’s fault. I didn’t even know what a visible panty line (VPL) was until I lived with her. I have spent most of my life in happy fashion oblivion.
Flashback! I was one of those kids who wore the same shirt every single day until, in desperation, my mother snuck into my room one night, stole it, and then cut it up into tiny pieces. This was one of my earliest exposures to devious ninja tricks.
So, back to the horrors of VPL, which is to be avoided at all costs. Because man, when you’re in the middle of a work out, there’s not a whole lot you can do it about it at that point.
Based on scientific observation of the reactions of fashionistas to VPL, and grading those reactions on a scale of 1 to 10, where 1 is “The Hotness” and 10 is “Projectile Vomiting” with a separate graded scale each for Disgust, Contempt, and Horror, and then factoring in the additional vectors of Age, Weight, and Outfit to the equation, I would say that sporting a VPL is the fashion equivalent of walking around with an enormous booger peeking out of your nose.
(Why Corbeau, have you been reading scientific journals at work again?
Yes. Yes I have.)

Holy Freaking Crap!!
Idol is doing Andrew Lloyd Weber??!!
How did that happen?
You better not mess it up Idols!!
They're freaking pop singers gosh darn it!
Let's blog this sucker.
Paula Paula Paula. Will you ever make sense?
Syesha
Are ALW's pants purple courdaroy? They look a bit like the Joker's from Adam West's Batman series.
Is she standing on the piano? Bonus points for that.
Is that the conductor? Or do they just have some random Broadway dude there for theaterical dancing purposes?
I thought she did pretty good. Much better here than in her Whitney Houston songs.
Ha ha, the music cut Paula off!
Oh wait, that guy is the conductor.
How adorable does Wall.E look? I can't wait to see it.
Dreadlock kid aka Jason
MEMORY!!! NOOOO!!! AHHHHHHHHHH!!! HE DIDN'T KNOW IT WAS FROM CATS??!!???!!
Dude, you're KILLING me.
ALW is totally in Joker pants.
Aw dude, he's totally popped it up. He looks like a lounge singer.
You know what would make me happy? If Elaine Paige came out and whacked him upside the head. Time for the FF button.
Randy's trying to be nice. It was a trainwreck dog. Me and Randy, we totally agree.
Balladeer? Is that even a word? Sounds like someone who rodeos deer for a living.
ha ha ha, Simon is so right!! I was miserable, Simon was miserable, "longest two minutes of your life." HA!
Brook:
He's directing her. How cool!
OOHHHH!!!! Messed up the words right at the beginning! That is the kiss of death girl.
She's trying really hard, but I'm not feeling it. I really want her to belt. I don't think she can though. She's just not a belter.
I'm going to go with a 'meh.'
Wow, Paula doesn't even have "you look nice" comment? I told you that start/stop was a kiss of death.
She looks likes she's about to cry. Let her go backstage, for pity's sake.
Little Davey:
You know, ALW did write songs for men. Why aren't these guys singing them?
Let's see if he keeps his eyes open. Hmmm, I can't tell. They're all squinty. He's like the anti-Sarah Brightman with her enormous,wide-open, freaky peepers.
C'mon, he's singing some bizarre version of "Think of Me" the comparison was inevitable.
ALW is in the audience? Don't they have some sort of VIP, box seat for him? (Box 5? HA HA HAH AH AHAHA!!! Oh, I kill me.)
Yeah Simon, I didn't like it either.
Carly aka Irish Girl:
Yeah, ALW saved her. Thank heavens. Stop Butchering PHANTOM!!!
I can't see Carly being all girly either.
Heh, she looks like she's having a blast. This and the first one are my favorites.
Actually, this may be my favorite Carly performance.
HA!! I love her Simon Loves Me (this week) tshirt.
David Cook:
Another Phantom song. At least he's singing a song written for a man.
ha, "Don't Laugh! Pretend I'm the most gorgeous young girl you've ever seen!"
I'm going to have to watch the movie again after all these Phantom songs.
Eh, I'm not feeling it.
What is that thing hanging from his belt? Scarf? Flag? Ascot? Tablecloth? WHAT?
Oohhh, maybe it's his really big bandanna-ish phantom mask.
The judges really liked it. Perhaps it was a lot better in real life.
Seacrest must be stopped. Please, no more singing Ryan.

Good Food Friday--Vegetable Nut Pate
I think by now we all know that I'll always be posting these late.
We're finally onto page 5! We leave drinks behind and enter the fascinating world of appetizers. I know my roommates are glad. You’d think I’ve been torturing them, the way they whine about having to consume fancy drinks once a week.
So, on to the pate, which I would like to point out, is NOT the easiest recipe on the page. (I’ve been getting some ribbing on this as well from roomie TSA (The Starving Artist)
1 ½ c cooked green beans, chopped
(You know those green beans you think you have in the cupboard? Now might be a good time to double check on that. Be sure to check behind the pop tarts.)
-A happy bonus to this ingredient? After you’ve added it to the dip, the rest becomes Tuesday Night Dinner. Mmmm.
2 hard boiled eggs, grated
(This sounded messy. I just diced mine with an egg slicer. It worked nifty keen.)
1 to 2 T. mayonnaise
Salt, Pepper, nutmeg to taste
(I don’t have nutmeg, but cardamom works as a substitute.)
¼ c chopped toasted nuts
(It never says how to toast the nuts. I put mine in the toaster oven. I recommend the “light” setting, otherwise your house smells like burnt nuts. If anyone else has a better way to do this, let me know.)
¼ c finely minced onion
1 T. white vinegar
Saute onions in a little butter until soft. Combine with remaining ingredients and chill well. Use as a dip for raw vegetables or as a pate with toast or crackers.
I will admit that once you stir everything up, it can look a little scary. It tasted pretty good though, and that’s with everything still warm. Mine is currently chilling in the fridge. So I’ll finish off my green beans and let you know how the pate tastes tomorrow.
UPDATE: Mmmmmmm, it's tasty. I had it on toast, and I really liked it.

Monday AMV
Today our movie features Read or Die, one of my favorite animes.
All of the amv's I screened were a little dark this week. Must be all the rain.
It's been raining none stop for two days now. Which actually reminds me of an embarrassing conversation I had with some guy at work. He was waiting for the elevator and saw me in the hall.
Some Guy: Excuse me, but do you drive a Monte Carlo?
Me: Yes, actually. I do.
(I was a little startled. How often does some random person ask about your car?)
Some Guy: Is it gray?
Me: Nope, mine is black.
Some Guy: Is it dirty enough that it could look gray?
Me: uh...maybe...
(Who washes their car in April? It rains all the freaking time!)
Some Guy: It's just that every day, on my way to work I see this dark gray Monte Carlo flying by in the left lane.
Me: Oh. Yeah. That's probably me then.
Some Guy: (laughs) Well, I'm the one driving slow and grandpa like in the right hand lane.
Me: Oh okay!!
(I have no idea which car he's talking about. I don't really pay attention unless someone's going slow in front of me.)
Anyway, so when I went to lunch with some friends, we all had to go look at my car, and see if it was dirty enough to look gray. (It wasn't.)

Good Food Friday--pg 4
It's really really late I know. So late, it's gone around and back out the other side and now I'm actually posting early for Good Food Friday.
I should actually be going to Krav tonight, but my allergies are so bad that I've decided to stay home and wait for my face to stop feeling so puffy. Besides, it's hard to punch things when you're sneezing constantly. I could come away with a nickname like "BioHazard"
Help me Tylenol Severe Allergy and Sinus Congestion. You're my only hope.
So, Page 4 was all about the lemonade. The recipe for last week was mint lemonade. Basically, you mix some lemonade and then put in some mint flavoring.
Badda Bing. Badda Boom. Mint lemonade.
I actually prefer a little later in the summer, when the mint is fresh, to put in some stalks for about half an hour or so, and then it's awesome.
I was thinking about trying one of the frozen lemonade slushy recipes, but I couldn't find many of the ingredients, and my alterations have reached the point where I'm afraid I'll create the Frankenstein monster of lemonades if I actually put it all together.
You want to know what I was actually doing last Friday?
I was at a German restaurant. It's called Cafe Mozart, and it's this little hole in the wall restaurant in DC. You have to walk back through their little deli/grocery store to the back, where they've hidden the restaurant. It's really good. And they have an entire menu page of cakes and tortes to choose from when you get to dessert.
Anyway, I went with a bunch of friends from work, and I was joking about the hassenpfeffer, a traditional rabbit dinner that I know about from Looney Tunes.
Well Mozart Cafe actually offered it, and after a few dares I actually ordered it.
It came with german potato salad and a really thick tasty gravy. I had a little bunny back leg attached to some bunny ribs, and a piece I'm pretty sure was the neck, based on it's shape and the hard thing in the center.
Rabbits, like quail, game hen, squirrel and other small critters are a really big pain to eat with a knife and fork. You have to try to get those little bits of meat off equally little bits of bone. I was at a nice place so I couldn't just pick it up and gnaw.
The rabbit had a really interesting flavor. In texture it reminded me a bit of duck, except not as greasy. It also had it's own, distinctive gamey flavor. It wasn't bad, but I won't order it again.
Definitely didn't taste like chicken.

The rabbit had a really interesting flavor. In texture it reminded me a bit of duck, except not as greasy. It also had it's own, distinctive gamey flavor. It wasn't bad, but I won't order it again.
Definitely didn't taste like chicken.

Monday Music Video
I have been slacking off quite a bit lately, and it's all Battlestar Galactica's fault.
Once I've finished the third season, I'm sure I'll be back to my online all the time self. But for now, Must Watch...BattleStar.

Mr. Bean's Holiday
My brother recommended this movie to me, and it was pretty funny. Mr Bean wins a trip to France, but the only French he knows is "oui" "non" and "gracias" My favorite part was when he was in a French restaurant, and he's just saying "oui" to whatever he's asked, and the waiter offers him something called "The Fruits of the Sea" and then brings out this enormous bowl of ice, with a bunch of dead sea creatures, all in their shells and puts it out in front of him.
I thought this was especially funny, since it once happened to me.
My roomies and I went to a French restaurant in Alexandria called Les Galois. It was winter, and soup sounded really good to me, so I ordered the bouillabaisse, which is a seafood stew.
Now usually, in the restaurants around here, they bring you the bowl, and in the bottom there's a mound of all the good stuff that's in the soup. Meat, veggies, whatever, and then the water dramatically pours the broth in over the top. It's very entertaining, and that's what I was expecting them to do. Instead, they brought me this enormous soup bowl, full of shrimp, mussels, and clams, all still in their shells.
At the bottom of the bowl were two enormous chunks of fish, each big enough to be an entree in its own right, and I didn't realize they were there until halfway through the soup, because of all the shells on top. It was an interesting soup. A lot of work to eat.
I just started piling shells on my breadplate after getting the meat out of them. At one point, DFL asked me, "So how's the soup?"
I said, "I don't know. There are too many dead animals in the way."
To which she closed her eyes and said, "Can't you just call it seafood?"
They also didn't appreciate my puppet show, wherein Bob the shrimp head searched the bowl for his bottom half.

So Wrong, Yet So Funny
I found a new blog quiz from my friend at WoolGathering.
23
I got the same score she did, which means I know what she answered for the "Would you feel morally wrong about picking up a child, and using him as a weapon against the other?"
Ha!

Ohhhh yeah...
There's a new guy at Krav. He looks an awful lot like this guy:

He was in my choke hold sparring group. Tee hee hee. He's quite a bit taller than me though, so I had to jump a bit to choke him. It was fun.
Speaking of hot guys, I'm watching the American Idol gives back special, and they have the So You Think You Can Dance people!! Look for Travis and Hawk.
Man, this was the best quality one I could find. It's still fun to watch. I can't wait for SYTYCD to start again in a month.

Good Food Friday- Page 3
Just a little late, but I'm pretty sure it's Friday-ish.
Orange Julius
Y’all should appreciate my diligence to the numerical page system, because everything on page 3 is a cold drink, and it is flipping freezing out today.
This one is especially appropriate, since I made mango lassi during the last General Conference. If I’m not careful, I’ll have to have an orange frothy drink for every conference.
Orange Julius
3 oz or 1/3 c frozen orange juice
½ c milk
½ c water
½ c sugar
½ tsp vanilla
5 to 6 ice cubes
Blend all ingredients together.
What is it with the partial can of oj recipes? Once again, I find myself asking “what will I do with 2/3 can of oj?” So it should be no surprise that I dumped that whole sucker in there. Actually, I meant to dump the whole thing, but the last third was being particularly difficult, so I just chucked it.
Then I doubled the portions for everything but the sugar, since that’s a whole lot of sugar. Our cute little blender whipped everything right up, and while digging ice out of the freezer, I had the opportunity to drop one down the back of BSA’s shirt. So all around an awesome recipe!
It’s VERY tasty.

Good Food Friday- Page 2
Page 2 of the Pig-Out Recipe Collection leaves us squarely in the Beverages portion of Beverages and Appetizers. Today’s recipe is “Slush Mix.”
1 lg package of strawberry Jello
4 c. sugar
4 c. water
1 (6 oz) can of frozen oj
½ cup lemon juice
1 (46-oz) can pineapple juice (seriously?!)\
1 (46-oz) can apple juice. (Do they even make cans this big?)
Obviously, this recipe has a ward social in mind, or possibly, the D-Day invasion force. I cut it drastically. I used a small package of jello, cut the sugar and water in half, used a full can (12 oz) of oj because, honestly, what am I going to do with a half can of frozen oj? Then I used a 12 oz can of pineapple juice, and 12 oz of apple juice.
I couldn’t find any frozen apple juice. Has canned apple juice gone out of style? Or is my grocer deficient? We may never know.
Here’s the directions:
Combine jello, sugar, and water in a saucepan. (A really big saucepan) Heat until sugar is dissolved. Add orange, lemon, pineapple, and apple juice. Put this mixture into a plastic container and freeze.
To serve: Remove from freezer one hour before serving. When mixture is slushy, pour into punch bowl and add ginger ale or 7 up.
Mine is still freezing, but once we serve it up I’ll let you know how it tastes. It’s a bunch of fruit juice and a load of sugar. How could it be bad?
UPDATE: hmmm, it's gooood. Sweet though. Really sweet. I bet you could get away with not adding any extra sugar and it would just fine.

Total Blackness
At my job, we print a lot of photos, which means that I've been trained to operate a large, sophisticated machine full of compartments, hoses, wires, tanks, and rollers that all break at random.
That was one impressive sentence. Anyway, so I was printing a bunch of photos, and an error message pops up. "Cartridge B out of paper."
No problem. This one I've done a couple of times. You open the door, slide the enormous cartridge of its rack, and replace it with another one. Except that all the other ones were labeled "A". I went and found a helpful photo guy and he said, "Do you know how to change out the paper?" and I said, "Sure, you just put in a new cartridge."
He smiled and said "Follow me, bring that thing."
So I hefted the empty cartridge and followed him into a dark room. Turns out, that for that particular cartridge, you have to change out the actual roll of special paper. Any light exposure, any light at all will ruin the entire roll of paper. So you have to do it blind.
He showed me how with a practice roll, First, slide it on the spinner, then place the wheel on, push it down, and engage the locking mechanism. Then place the spinner in the grooves on the side, if it's right, the roll will spin, then you find the tape, and peel it off, then thread the paper through a series of grooves, and then close the cartridge and snap down the locks on both sides. All in total blackness.
Now as a ninja, fighting blind and/or destroying things is no problem. Performing blind technical maintenance is a totally different story.
I had a practice round with my eyes closed. Then photo guy asked if I wanted him to stay while I changed it out. "Yes! and could you please stand by the light?" I was afraid that if I had to cross the room and turn out the light, I'd never find my way back to the workbench.
So he turned out the light, and it was SOO dark. I got the paper out of it's protective bag, and was surprised by how big it was. I found the "shiny" side by feel and then tried to thread it on the spinner, but I couldn't get it to go on. I couldn't figure out what was wrong, it felt like the hole in the roll was on, but it wouldn't push down. So I pushed really hard, and something pinged off, flew right by my face, and Iscreamed gave a battle cry that froze the blood of my enemies.
"Oh yeah" helpful photo guy said. "There's a plastic stopper on the paper that you need to take off before it'll go on the spinner."
I shot him a glare and even though he couldn't see it, I'm sure he felt its heat.
I finally managed to get the thing loaded up, but it was intense. I don't like not being able to see. Not At ALL.

North Carolina
My brother has a great patch of land down near Fort Bragg.

It was my first time in North Carolina. I didn't realize that it had so many pine trees. Here's their lake:

And some really nasty vines, which my brother calls "wait a minute" vines. Because that's what you say after they latch on to your clothes, hair, flesh, and then you have to disentangle yourself.

I saw a paratrooper jump, and got to eat some amazing NC bar-b-que. They have a really interesting vinegar based sauce that I loved. I also had some truly amazing hushpuppies.
It was a blast.

Whoa, is it Monday already?
Apparently, everyone took Easter weekend off. I hope it was nice and the Easter ninja treated you well!
The Easter ninja cleverly hid 12 plastic eggs in my room. I have found 8 so far. I'm afraid of the traps that may be in the closet.
So it looks like we need to do some catching up.
I have stuff for Good Food Friday, but I don't have time to cook tonight, so hopefully I'll have that tomorrow.

Easter!
Are we all ready for Easter weekend? I love Easter. Every Easter my folks send me a care package, with an awesome chocolate bunny and other assorted goodies.
This year, I'm going to drive down to North Carolina to visit my brother. So blogging will be light, since I'm leaving tomorrow.
Wonder Woman, I leave it to you. I look forward to your Good Food Friday. Don't let me down!

Know what I miss? Avatar.
Know what I danced to this weekend? 80s music.
If only there was some way to combine the two....
I'm going to a party right after work tomorrow, so I posted our music video a little early this week.

Eggnog Update
So...you CANNOT overcook eggnog. When your stirring it on the oven, once it looks like eggnog, thick and whatever, take it off the heat. Otherwise the egg solidifies and then its all over. When I took my nog out of the fridge, it had the consistency and texture of tapioca pudding. I couldn't bring myself to drink it, but I did eat some with a spoon, and it tasted like eggnog but that pudding thing...bleh.

Good Food Friday - Page 1
My good friend Nan has started Good Food Fridays on her blog, and asked her friends to participate. I believe all you have to do is post a recipe, and then talk about it.
Unfortunately, most of my recipes look something like this:
1. Boil spaghetti noodles
2. Put Prego “Garden Variety” Spaghetti sauce on top of noodles
3. Dinner!
It gets even worse on Fridays, where it looks something like this:
1. Go to restaurant
2. Read menu
3. Dinner!
I went to our shelf of cookbooks for some help. My first thought was Rachel Ray, but then BSA reminded me of the unfortunate “Stoop” incident. A recipe so awful, that my subconscious has repressed all memory of it except for a vague shuddering recollection of a pot full of something red and lumpy. So instead, I’ve picked the “Pig-Out” Collection of Recipes from the Lincoln, NE 4th Ward Relief Society.
For Good Food Fridays (which will probably never happen on a Friday, but it’s the thought that counts) I’ll pick a recipe from a page, going through it in chronological order.
Since I’ll be napping tomorrow in preparation for the Leg Warmers concert in Maryland, I’m doing my Good Food Friday tonight.
Page 1
Appetizers & Beverages
Eggnog
2 c milk
6 eggs
¾ c. sugar
¼ tsp salt
1 c milk
1 tsp vanilla
2 tsp rum extract (or imitation rum flavoring, or rum, or whatever)
Nutmeg
Now I know what you’re thinking, that’s a Gaston-level amount of eggs. I only made half the recipe, because there’s only 1 of me. But if you find yourself surrounded by 12 outlaw bikers whose rage can only be cooled by a big cool glass of eggnog, then by all means make the whole recipe.
Directions:
Heat 2 cups of milk in a medium saucepan, just until hot. Set aside. Beat eggs, sugar, and salt. Slowly whisk the milk into the egg mixture and return to saucepan (I whisked the eggs into the milk, right into the saucepan, it didn’t seem to make any difference) Cook slowly over low heat, stirring constantly for 15 to 20 minutes.

This is important. If you don’t beat enough, or if it heats too much, you might suddenly get something that looks like really runny scrambled eggs. My solution to this little problem was to beat it silly.

Beating it silly
Once your done stirring, remove from heat. Stir in the 1 cup of milk and vanilla. Refrigerate until chilled. Before serving, add rum extract and sprinkle with nutmeg.
I don’t have any nutmeg, so I’m going to sprinkle mine with ground Cardamom, which is similar to nutmeg, but I like it better.
My eggnog is still cooling, so I’ll post an update when we actually try it (you have to refrigerate it for several hours.) Some of you who may have been around me during the holidays, or at least long enough to hear me refer to eggnog as a “nice big glass of holiday snot” may be surprised by my choice of recipe. Well, it was the only one on Page 1 that wasn’t hot, and it’s too warm to make hot cocoa or cider.

Cops on segues.
Even better?
Mall cops on segues.
And if said mall cop shoots you that cop glare? Well you are fully justified in giggling, because DUDE, no one looks intimidating on a segues.
Not even Batman.

Monday AMV
Not the best edited AMV, I prefer ones that feature lots of small clips, but it cracks me up whenever Fire Girl tries to kiss Black Cat.
A Big Greek Wedding
Saturday I went into DC to attend a friend's wedding. The guy she married was Greek, so she converted to Greek Orthodox, and they got married in the Saint Sophia Cathedral. It was beautiful, full of domes covered in gold leaf. The priest conducted first in English, and then in Greek, so there was lots of chanting. My favorite was the back up chanter (I believe he's a cantor?) providing the "ohms" he had a nice voice. There was also lots of getting up and down, and when standing, wondering when we could sit down again. It was kind of fun to watch when various women would give up, and shrink a couple of inches when they slipped out of their shoes.
After the ceremony, which was gorgeous, there was a reception at the Omni Shoreham, a historic DC hotel. There were appetizers, served by waiters, and then an extremely fancy wedding dinner. Started with an arugala salad, with nuts, cranberries, pears and goat cheese. Then there was tenderloin, grilled asparagus and au gratin potatoes. Then a white mousse and raspberry cake.
And then there was Greek dancing. Where everyone joins hands and then you step and kick and step and kick and do whatever the leader is doing, with the occasional clapping and "Oh-PA!"
I did pretty good. Jumped right in and didn't look too stupid. Although I would pay too much attention on copying footwork and not on line movement, and then I would crash into a very nice, patient Greek lady.
It was loads of fun.

AAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pop Quiz
Is this cereal awesome?

A. Yes
B. Hell Yes!!
C. Gross! Who put their cinnamon-sweet fingers all over my food!
You know what really impresses me about this new fingerprint design? All three class characteristics (Loops, Arches and Whorls) are represented. You just don't expect that kind of attention to detail from a sugar cereal.
Also, I had a request for pics of my new fighting shoes.
Here they are:

And here they are on my little feet, with accompanying black pants:

For those of you who might not be familiar with the bowling vocabulary of Northern Virginia, a "turkey" is when you bowl three strikes in a row.
I now have a new high score of 153. Oh yeah, Corbeau bowled half a perfect game.

Penelope
I really liked this. It's hasn't been getting a lot of advertising which is a shame. It's a modern fairy tale about a girl who's born with a pig nose and it's great.
Let's see if I can't find a preview. Ah, thank you, Youtube:
It has the same charming tone that Pushing Daisies does, with the narration and the bright colors. It also has a really good message, and parts of it are just hilarious. I definitely recommend seeing it.
I also saw Spiderwick, which I liked, but was a little more frustrating. I spent the whole movie saying "Why doesn't he just leave the Stupid BOOK in the STUPID HOUSE!! How many times does he have to be told!!"
But maybe that's just me. :)

This is just too adorable.
Also, I saw in Penelope last night, and it was really good. It has lots of bright colors and the same modern fairy tale tone that Pushing Daisies has. I really recommend it.

Krav Report
I love me my new fighting shoes.
They're so light, yet so supportive, and they have these awesome puma kitty sillouttes on the toes.
Tonight we learned the "Get off the Ground in a Fight Maneuver" which will be forever known as the maneuver where the instructor caught me checking out his butt.
This happened when I was training at the school in DC, and it wasn't really my fault.
My instructor, who had a penchant for wearing tight clothes to show off his greek god physique, was showing us the proper way to get off the ground during a fight without getting your head kicked in.
The middle of this move is called a "post" where, using a hand and a foot, you lift yourself off the ground. Then you swivel your hips to bring your other leg around and down.
So this is what happened. The Instructor was on the ground. "Then you're going to post," he lifted up off the ground, "and now, we're going to swivel to bring that other leg around." He demonstrated the swivel. "See? So Lift, and swivel..and swivel..and swivel" and well, I'm only human.
The look on his face when caught me was...er...surprised. And then he stopped demonstrating the swivel.
But tonight I was very good and concentrated on doing the maneuver and didn't check out my instructor once.
And what are you having for dinner tonight corbeau?
Well, I'm glad you asked. I'm having steak, with mushrooms and rice pilaf. I figured I earned the steak, being as I was so good during class and all. The rice is from one of those Green Giant microwave steamers you find in the freezer section. Everyone at work was talking about how good they were, so I thought I'd try it.
They were right. It's some dang tasty rice.

Quickie Notes
1. Yesterday, I managed to knock down a pin with a freaking gutter ball.
I'm just that GOOD.
The people on the teams to either side of me said it was truly impressive.
2. Today at work, I was given a bag of Amish Friendship Bread.
Right now, it's just a ziplock bag of cold yellow goo with a complicated sheet of instructions.
But after several days of kneading and fermenting at room temperature, it will bake into some delicious bread.
Or so I'm told.
3. Danny O is SLAUGHTERING the Carpenters on American Idol. Make it stop!
4. I got new shoes for my Krav class. They're these cool looking, black suede wrestling mat shoes. Neat!! Because when you're learning to boot people in the head, you should have some good looking shoes on.
5. The third Maximum Ride novel is out in paperback!! I also got the latest Rachel Morgan book, and I'm halfway through Blink. Of course, I'm about to start a big OT project at work, and it's killing me. MUST ... READ....NEW BOOOKS!!
Hmm, do I really need 7 hours a night?

Cookie Story
Sorry it's late. :)
So I was at work, doing my thing, working on a spreadsheet, listening to music, not paying attention to the conversation going on in the cubicles around me.
And that was my first mistake.
Helpful Ninja Tip: Always eavesdrop on the conversations around you.
Anyway, one of the guys across from me handles all the polo shirt orders for people who want shirts with our work logo on it, which is pretty cool. Unfortunately, the company who makes them tends to mess up the orders quite a bit, and then people come complain to shirt guy. These conversations are pretty boring. Usually.
A girl had ordered a shirt, but they got the color wrong. It is bright scarlet. It might glow in the dark. So shirt guy had re-ordered her shirt, and she's like, "I don't want this one." and shirt guy said, "So give it to someone who does."
and then she said, "Corbeau, you're a medium aren't you?"
and I said, "Uh?"
"You're a medium right?"
"Yes" I said
"You can't just give her a shirt, make her do something for it." Said shirt guy, who likes giving me a hard time.
"Hmmm" pondered the girl, "Very well. You may have this shirt if you tell me what it is you're chewing on."
"A honey stick." I replied. (I've gotten hooked on these. I have a bad habit of chewing on my fingers, so I always try and have something else on hand to chew. I don't really like gum, so now I chew on honey sticks. They're tasty.)
She tossed the shirt to me.
I, surprised, because I hadn't really been paying attention, looked at my new really bright red shirt.
"No no no, that's way too easy." Shirt guy complained.
"Corbeau, aren't you good at baking?" Asked the girl who sits across from me, my cubicle neighbor.
"I can make brownies, and cakes mostly."
This made them all excited, and by the time they had finished one-upping each other they had decided that I should bring in a multi-layer round cake. White, with fresh berry topping for frosting. The next day.
I said, "No. I have no idea how to make that. I don't have time to learn, heck I don't even time to go to the grocery store. I'll bring cookies."
They were still happy with that, even though it's not a super-cake, because it was still free baked goods to pay for my shirt.
Unfortunately, my evil oven burned all the cookies, so I brought brownies instead. They were good.

Tick Tick Tick Tick
Can our intrepid blogger make a batch of cookies, eat dinner, and make it to Krav on time, braving the blizzard in pursuit of beating people up?
Maybe. I should probably get cracking. I'll have to tell you how I got suckered into making cookies for work tomorrow, tomorrow.
For now.... I call upon the powers of BAKING!!!!
UPDATE: The cookies burned and I got hit in the face. Corbeau is not as awesome as previously thought.
I hate our oven. It is pure cunning evil, equipped with all the weapons the 50s had to offer.
I set the cookies in for 5 MINUTES. 5 flipping minutes at freaking 300 degrees and it still turned them into burnt hockey pucks.
You know that scene in Office Space where they take the copier out to a field and beat it to pieces with baseball bats? That's my new oven fantasy.

Yo Yo Yo Dawg!
American Idol is 2 hours long? SERIOUSLY!!
Dude, I can't stay up that late. Especially with Randy and Paula talking so very long, and so very incoherently.
And for some good news:
I bowled a 125 tonight.
WHOOO!!!!! I don't TOTALLY SUCK!!
Feel free to do a celebratory dance with me.
WHoo! WHoo!

Monday Music Video
I thought we'd post some of DFL's preferred beefcake, but it turns out that it's really hard to find a music video of Will Smith that doesn't involve him rapping.
Still, this was the best part of Hitch, so enjoy!
Also, totally random, but this is hilarious:

Things I've Learned from Sara Conner
Apparently, Battle Chess could possibly try and take over the world.
Bummer. Let's hope it has the personality of the nerve-wrecked pawn and not the bloodthirsty queen.
Although I personally, never played Battle Chess to win. I just wanted to see what would happen when various pieces fought each other. My favorite was two knights, because they'd re-enact the fight with the Black Knight from Monty Python.

Freezing Rain
I pulled out of the parking garage to drive home, rain began spattering against my windshield. I turned on my windshield wipers, but instead of "Whoosh Whoosh" it went like "chuck chuck chuck" because all those little drops had frozen into little ice pellets.
This stuff has made the roads a nightmare. My roommies have been stuck in Old Town for over 2 hours now.
I was supposed to go bowling tonight, but decided to go home after listening to the weather and traffic reports. They were closing down bridges and various highway ramps, and if I'm going to get iced in somewhere, it's not going to be a bowling alley in Dale City.
The steps to my door are completely iced over.

Public Art
Frozen in New York. Here, they're doing Grand Central Station. I read another website from a participant who froze at a Home Depot.
It's pretty fun to watch, although I feel for the guy trying to drive his cart.

Saturday Morning Scare
So I wake up this morning, look over at my clock, and it says 6:04.
CRAP!!! I jump out of bed, slap the light on. I race over to my cell phone, yelling "why, Why WHY didn't the alarm go off!!!"
I flip it open. It says Sat, Feb 9.
Oh. It's Saturday. Huh. Well, I guess I'll just go back to bed then.

Thinks I've learned from Sarah Conner: The Terminator Chronicles
You should always keep your C4 in the bathroom under the towels.
WOOHOOO!!
I saw the freaking Batman today.
Hot=Very Yes
Tall=Not so much.
Honestly, the dude was only 2 inches taller than me.
You may now all bask in my celebrity sighting glory.

Creepy!!
Is anyone else watching American Idol? With the creepy identical twins who are dating the same girl?
EEK!!!
What is that?!
Oh heavens they're beat-boxers. Ooops. I hate when you forget the words to your own rap song.

Snow Stories
Apparently, Utah and Idaho have been getting loads of snow. Which seems odd to me, since it's been really nice here. I have acclimated to tiny amounts of snow.
My sister was telling stories about taking her kids sledding. And I learned a rather shocking revelation that not only does she not like going fast, she also does not like falling down.
For me, going fast and falling down is the whole point of sledding/tubing/skiing in the first place.
When I was at USU, we had bits of an old kiddie pool that we used to sled down Old Main Hill. You'd grab your little piece of plastic, try to center yourself on it, and then slide down the hill. I always tried to stay on until I reached maximum speed, then abandoned ship (or plastic) yelling "AS YOU WISH" and I tumbled end over end down the rest of the hill.
Of course, I'm willing to accept that this might not be normal sledding behavior.
Although, since Old Main was so steep and icy, it was really hard to stop. So every winter the school would put up a wall of hay bales at the bottom of the hill to prevent you from shooting into oncoming traffic. So if you stayed on until the bitter end you smacked face first into the enormous stack of frozen hay bales.
This not only hurt, but didn't offer any opportunity to shout lines from The Princess Bride. So I stand by my abandon-roll sledding style.

Superbowl Post
Did we all enjoy the Superbowl? I'm still in shock that the Patriots lost. That last quarter was so intense.
What an awesome game! I also thought there were some really good commercials.
I loved the ones from Bridgestone tires.
The Budweiser horses went for the heartstrings instead of their usual football game.
But I my absolute favorite was the Pepsi commercial that played early on.
What is love indeed.

How about the boys from Supernatural. Oh yeah, they'll work just fine.

For my concert buddy: JT exposed
We went and saw One Republic with Eric Hutchinson this week, and this one number covered half of the six songs we knew from the whole night. Rihanna's Umbrella was another one, but I think that counted for negative 15.
