SYTYCD Finale

I've been trying not to write too much about television, but tonight is the big finale!! I want anyone who's not Evan to win. I like Evan, he's cute and all, but the other three are all better dancers than he.

I loved the Matrix Paso Doble.

Friday Fun

Since I've been watching SYTYCD instead of blogging, I thought it only fair I post a highlight from the show.

Its awesomely bad.

Something New

HEY!! So You Think You Can Dance has added Bollywood to its repetoire!

Nice. Hmmm, this is totally making me crave Mint Chutney.

SYTYCD: Cool Dancers

So I finally got around to watching Thursday's Season Premiere. I love this show!!

This guy is crazy. It's like he's made from Silly Putty.

Phillip Chbeeb

Victor Kim:

Know why I like this show better than Idol?

The judges are brutal. Watch them during this audition. Soooo mean. "Cue the sad music as he walks off the stage please."

What can I say? I love the breakers.

Oh... MY... GOSH!!!

OH MY GOSH!! That guys is freaky awesome!

Tuesday!

Did everyone have a good Memorial Day? I had a very nice time with my family, and I made it home, despite the best efforts of I-95.

I have a sunburn, bug bites, and a small dent in my car. Summer has officially started.

I know I skipped the Monday AMV, but I have something even better.

24 the musical.

It's freaking awesome. Based on Season Two, which was pretty bad, and there's some language, although I thought "Dammit" was pretty funny.

I'm finally getting around to seeing the premiere for So You Think You Can Dance, and Mia Micheals kills me. I'll look for highlights to post.

Ohhhh yeah...

There's a new guy at Krav. He looks an awful lot like this guy:

He was in my choke hold sparring group. Tee hee hee. He's quite a bit taller than me though, so I had to jump a bit to choke him. It was fun.

Speaking of hot guys, I'm watching the American Idol gives back special, and they have the So You Think You Can Dance people!! Look for Travis and Hawk.

Man, this was the best quality one I could find. It's still fun to watch. I can't wait for SYTYCD to start again in a month.

SYTYCD: Last 6

I thought last night's episode was one of the best of the season. It actually had dances that were exciting, and I wish they had made the choreographers stop babying everyone a long time ago.

I loved Neil and Sabra's dances. This is the first time I've actually cheered for Neil, but their first routine was so amazing. It was a jazz routine choreographed by Mandy Moore (not the actress) and it's my favorite dance of the season.

The part where Neil lifts himself over the table?

Hot.

I also loved Pasha in his hip hop routine. Lacey was tolerable with her nasty hair tied up.

Check out how cute he is!

The jidges seemed to be drinking happy juice. They loved everything. Everything was awesome. Everything was beautiful. Everyone was riding the hot tamale train.

I like it when their a little more critical. Although Nigel totally called out Lacey's lazy waltz hands. That made me happy.

This is who I want for the Final Four.

Sabra, Lacey, Pasha, and Neil.

What did you guys think? Who do you want to see in the final four?

Monday Music

I didn't really peruse any AMVs over the weekend. I was too caught up in the abridged Yugioh episodes.

So here's my favorite dance from last week's episode of SYTYCD: Pasha and Lauren's hip hop, choreographed by Shane Sparks.

Cat had a weird Greek theme going last week. At least this one is better than the thing she was wearing Thursday.

SYTYCD: Last Night's Edition

Sorry, I have no idea where we're at on this show.

I had a ripping headache last night, but through the painful haze, I'm pretty sure I had the following thoughts:

I love Pasha and Sara. They're my favorite. Even the horrible 80s spandex, suspenders, and the return of the side ponytail could not take down their combined awesomeness.

I also like Dominic and Sabra a lot too. I remember really liking their dance, whatever it was.

Does anyone else feel that the ballroom choreographer with the nasty greasy tiny soul patch is insecure about ballroom not being "cool." He seems very defensive this season, trying to make all his dances "cool" or "edgy" and gets very "upset" when the jidges diss the dance and say it is "boring."

All right. I'll stop with the "scare" "quotes."

Wade Robson is one weird dude.

Mia Michaels mullet was less prominent in this episode. Her dance... bizarre.

Mary Murphy makes my head hurt. She does give The Soup a lot of fodder though.

What did you guys think? Did you like the Mia Michaels hamburgler dance or did it just weird you out?

SYTYCD: 9 couples

A Paso Doble to Queen??!!

SERIOUSLY?!

Other quick notes from yeterday's 2 hour episode:

Mia Michaels was a judge, and either the dancers are better, or she's mellowed. She lacked her usual terrifying-yet-true critisicms.

Lacey reminds us all that 80s fashion is acctually coming back.

At least Benji wasn't plastered all over this episode. Yeah!

Faina owned the Foxtrot. I feel bad her partner is struggling so much. I really like her but think they'll be in the bottom three again tonight.

My favorite couples: Jesus and Sara, Jamie and Hok

SYTYCD: First Cut

So the first review show. Wade choreographed the opening number, and no one I liked got sent home. All around a good show!

SYTYCD: Partners

Tonight was the first night that the top 20 danced in their designated couples.

With this many dancers, it's hard to pick favorites or even remember everybody's names, so I'll cover the choreographers first.

Shane Sparks: I like him. I think he's a really good guy, and he got to choreograph two dance tonight.

Mia Michaels: I love Mia! Wait, is that a mullet? When did she grow a mullet? Has it always been there and I never noticed? No, Mia NO!! Why??!! It looks awful. Truly it does.

Wade Robson: I LOVED his pop routine. The dancers were a little rough, but it was still freaking awesome.

UPDATE: Here is Sara and Jesus performing Wade's dance:

As for the individual dancers:

I think my favorite right now is Hok and Jamie. I thought they were entertaining and I loved Jamie's attitude during the hip hop routine.

UPDATE: Here's video of their dance:

The She-Benji actually did very well in her dance. Dang it. Are we going to be subjected to her cheeseball brother hamming it up for the camera during every audience shot?

Because that will be truly awful. Thank heavens for DVR.

My favorite individual dancer is Pasha. He's such a cutey. The slow waltz was beautiful, and I have to agree with Crazy Mary. Who wouldn't want to wear a flowy white gown and dance in the arms of a hot Russian?

SYTYCD: Auditions

The best part of the SYTYCD auditions? All the beat boys,(bboys?)breakers and poppers. Those guys are amazing and fun to watch.

Unfortunately, most of them get cut in the choreography round, or in Vegas during partner dance, lyrical, ballroom, or other dances that require a lot of technical proficiency. The auditions in LA brought the return of Hok. I hope he makes it to the top 20, because he is awesome.

There was also this amazing popper: Phillip Chbeeb. Although I believe he auditioned in Chicago.

That guy is crazy.

The real fun starts next week with the dream crushing horror of the Las Vegas auditions.

Judging from the previews, lots of dancers break down and cry.

SYTYCD: NY

I love me my acronyms.

The thing I like most about So You Think You Can Dance?

They have no Paula equivalent.

Sure, Crazy Mary is, well crazy, but she is perfectly willing to tear into people (ie., ballroom dancers) who aren't up to standard. None of this, "You look lovely" or "You seem like a wonderful person" nonsense.

Case in point: Dancing Derrick. He was the very first audition, and after extensive interviewing about his padded resume, DD got up on stage, and in front of all the other contestants and on national television, had some sort of high-velocity fit set to music for 60 seconds before nearly passing out. This made Crazy Mary laugh like an evil Disney villain through out his entire audition review.

Seriously. I haven't heard such gleeful pleasure at another's misfortune since Maleficent's "And now you shall deal with me, O Prince, and all the powers of Hell!!"

*Cackle Cackle*

I'll admit, his strange and truly awful dance had me frozen, staring in horrified fascination at the screen, desperately wanting yet unable to hit the FF button on the DVR. Until that awesome Crazy Mary cackle freed me. Then of course, she just kept laughing, which made me laugh and so I STILL couldn't hit the FF button. Well played, SYTYCD. Well played.

So Crazy Mary plus Evil Disney Villain= Scary Mary.

American Idol Finale

I no longer have a horse in this race, so I'll just offer my brief analysis that Blake has been stronger throughout the season, but Jordin sang better last night.

Who will be declared the winner tonight? I honestly have no idea.

I've moved on you see. To Thursday. And the show that brought us dancing zombies.

Bring on the Crazy Mary Juice!!

Update: I'd almost forgotten about this dance. It even made Benji look hot.

Update update: Speaking of hot, can you believe that I can't find a clip of the Latin dance where Dmitri took off his shirt? This has shaken my faith in youtube.
