Harry Pottor and The Deathly Hallows

My copy arrived via UPS at 5:00 Sat evening. I finished it last night at 11:15.

It's very good. Very dark. I really want to talk about it, but find it difficult to do without spoilers.

And spoiling the ending is just un-American.

So I'll wait a little bit. I think I'll post my thoughts next week? Hopefully that will give everyone time to read it, and give me time to review a huge gaping plot hole. I think I might have missed something when I was reading it. I hope so, because it's my only major issue with the book.

So, til next Monday then.

Don't get me wrong, I thought the book was awesome!

It's just that I need to know how Neville got the sword. It's driving me nuts! I might have missed the explanation on that one, (I was getting tired by the end) but I remember quite clearly that the sword was reclaimed by its Goblin manufacturers about 300 pages earlier.

So how did it magically appear in the final battle?

From the sorting hat in all its bright, flamey, burning glory?

And if so, how did the sorting hat get it? It wasn't on Hogwarts property anymore.

Did it magically steal it from the tenacious goblins through the convinetly gaping plot hole?

Methink yes. But I'll reread that chapter tonight to make sure I didn't miss something.

yes, it was the sorting hat. I had to go over that one with my husband as well. Any true Gryffindor will be able to pull the sword from the hat. Along the lines, I believe, of, anyone loyal to hogwarts always getting help when asked for. There must have been some kind of spell or charm on the sword.

I had issues about the sword in the manor - with bellatrix freaking out i thought the sword must be some kind of danger to the dark lord, but then i was reminded that if the sword had been taken then bellatrix would be afraid she'd get in trouble because her vault had been broken in to.

anyway. Yay!!!!

I figured she had a horcrux. The Onion pointed out that the loveliness of that scene is when Lucious and Bellatrix are throwing lesser minions in the way of a raging Voldemort while they escape.

What good minions!

What disturbed me about that part was the torture of Hermoine. Not Hermione! For the love, take Ron instead!!
